Shaina Lofton

Candidate in the 2-year Master of Architecture degree program
Favorite thing about being at Georgia Tech: My favorite thing about Georgia Tech is the diverse student culture of campus. There are countless events happening on campus at any given time, so it is easy to find people with similar interests as you.
Who do you want to design for? I would like to design for underrepresented and underdeveloped communities in urban landscapes, specifically focusing on residential and recreational projects.
What do you do for fun? For fun, I really enjoy listening to and making music. I also enjoy going on walks and jogs around Piedmont Park with my friends and trying new food around the city.
One word to describe what you thought before you started: Before I started architecture school, I thought it would be rigorous.
One word to describe what you think now: While our program is rigorous, I can recognize just how much fun architecture school is here at Tech. Professors give you a platform to explore your creativity on design projects and they give you design briefs that really challenge your mind as a designer. Here, I was able to grow into a stronger designer which has better prepared me for architectural practice.
