Candidate in the Ph.D. in Architecture degree program

Favorite thing about being at Georgia Tech: While Georgia Tech is a big-name school known internationally, there is still a welcoming, small school-type of environment where everyone is willing to help out.  Opportunities seem to hide around every corner—you just need to want to find them.  Georgia Tech is also in proximity to many coffee shops, which relates to my hobbies of biking and drinking copious amounts of coffee.

Why did you decide to study architecture? Diving into architectural science seemed like a logical step following completion of my mechanical engineering degree.  I had lived in an off-grid zero emissions building for my last year of undergrad and was fascinated by all of the clever design tricks made by architects and engineers.  I wanted to study buildings from a holistic perspective, so architecture seemed like a better choice than engineering.
