Barrett Blaker

Candidate in 3.5-year Master of Architecture degree program

Favorite thing about being at Georgia Tech: The collaborative and supporting environment. It is amazing to be in a program where people are actively interested and engaged in seeing others succeed.

Why did you decide to study architecture?  I think that the field of architecture is incredibly relevant to everybody. Almost all of our day-to-day activities, work, conversations, and experiences take place in spaces that were heavily shaped or designed by an architect, and (almost) all of those spaces were designed with a purpose to fulfill some need in the social or natural environment. I think that studying the connection between us as people and the spaces we experience is vital to understanding the relationship between social groups and the world they inhabit and create.
