Join us at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9th, for our Ventulett Chair Lecture by Michael Murphy. 

Michael Murphy is the Founding Principal and Executive Director of MASS Design Group, an architecture and design collaborative that leverages buildings, as well as the design and construction process, to become catalysts for economic growth, social change, and justice. 
 
From offices in Boston, Kigali, Poughkeepsie, Santa Fe, and Bozeman, MASS’s team of over 200 have completed projects in over a dozen countries, spanning the areas of healthcare, education, housing, and urban development.  Notable projects include The National Memorial for Peace and Justice (Montgomery, AL), Butaro District Hospital (Butaro, Rwanda), and GHESKIO Cholera Treatment Center (Port au Prince, Haiti). Murphy’s TED talk, delivered at the 2016 Annual TED Conference, has over 1.7 million views, and the firm was recently profiled on CBS’s 60 Minutes.
 
Michael currently serves as the Ventulett Chair at the Georgia Tech School of Architecture, and has taught at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, University of Michigan, and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation. Michael is from Poughkeepsie, NY, and holds a Master of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago.

The lecture is free and open to the public, and will be held at the Reinsch – Pierce Family Auditorium, in the ground floor of the Architecture East building.  If you are unable to attend in person but would like to tune in, the virtual live stream can be found at this link
