Design Computation
Contemporary technologies are rapidly expanding the frontiers of architectural design, theory, and practice. The Design Computation concentration investigates the role of shape in the structuring of information in the description, interpretation, and evaluation of architectural design.
Through its association with the Shape Computation Lab (shape.gatech.edu), the program draws on Georgia Tech’s reputation as one of the leading institutions in the study of Shape Grammars, an area of research that explores the visual nature of shape and its ability to seamlessly shift and recombine through the use of new software technologies.
Students graduating from this program are prepared to pursue advanced studies and academic careers that foreground artificial intelligence, cognitive science and computational theories in architectural design.
