Biography
Amy Stone is an accomplished architect with a passion for sustainable design and equity in architecture. A triple Jacket at Georgia Tech, she earned highest honors in her Bachelor's and Master’s in Architecture (2011, 2020) and an MBA from Scheller College of Business (2023). Amy's connection to Georgia Tech is deep, having contributed to projects such as The Kendeda Building for Innovative and Sustainable Design and the conceptual phase of Tech Square Phase 3.
With extensive design and management expertise across a diverse range of project types, Amy has worked on commercial office spaces, commercial building repositioning, multi-family housing, higher education, mixed-use developments, adaptive reuse, and residential renovations. Her expertise spans all phases of design and construction, ensuring innovative and sustainable outcomes.
Amy is also a dedicated contributor to Madame Architect, an online magazine celebrating the extraordinary women shaping the world and showcasing dynamic career paths within and beyond the architectural profession. She has contributed interviews with notable figures such as Beverly Willis, Diane Hoskins, and Cazú Zegers, and more. Madame Architect has featured over 500 women, including Frida Escobedo and Neri Oxman, and has been recognized in outlets like Fast Company and Metropolis Magazine.
Currently, Amy is a part-time assistant professor at Kennesaw State University, where she taught Design Communications, Introduction to Structures, and Professional Practice: Building Codes and Technical Documentation. A mother of three, Amy enjoys triathlons, photography, and playing the piano in her spare time.
Statement of Teaching Interest
I teach at the intersection of design, business, and human experience. My focus is on helping students connect architectural thinking with real-world practice: how to build and lead sustainable design practices, apply user-centered principles, and translate creative ideas into effective, strategic solutions. I emphasize the business of architecture, entrepreneurship, and delivery, along with the role of leadership and collaboration in shaping meaningful, people-centered environments.
